{"id":16014,"date":"2020-09-01T16:55:57","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T16:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.semsa.ad\/?p=16014"},"modified":"2020-09-01T16:56:23","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T16:56:23","slug":"changes-in-the-une-en-1709-standard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.semsa.ad\/en\/changes-in-the-une-en-1709-standard\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes in the UNE-EN 1709 standard"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> We inform you of the changes in the UNE-EN 1709 standard relative to the safety requirements of cable transport facilities for people \u2013 Examination prior to commissioning, maintenance and controls in operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nThe\nwidespread application of ropeways as public transport in urban areas\nadvised a thorough review of the standard UNE-EN 1709 both in its\ncontent and in the periodicity of inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nThe\nEN 1709:2019 standard thus replaces the EN 1709:2004. It should be\nnoted that the scope of this standard has changed from &#8220;<em>Examination\nprior to commissioning, maintenance and operational controls<\/em>&#8221;\nto &#8220;<em>Examination\nprior to commissioning, instructions for maintenance, inspection and\noperational controls<\/em>&#8220;.\nIn particular, the inspection intervals and methodology of special\ninspections have varied substantially (section 6.3.7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nFrom\nnow on, for structural constituents subjected to high fatigue loads,\nthe first special inspection is no longer distinguished from the\nfollowing, and must now be performed every 15 years or 30,000\noperating hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nThe\nperiodicities of the special inspections of the brakes, calipers,\nsuspensions also change in the new version of the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nAll\nother safety components subject to fatigue loads shall be inspected\nwith non-destructive tests, a first time after 15 years or after\n30,000 hours of operation and thereafter every 10 years or after\n20,000 hours of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Withdrawal of the reference: According to Annex II of the COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING DECISION (EU) 2019\/1923 of November 18, 2019 on harmonized standards on cable transport facilities drawn up in support of Regulation (EU) 2016\/424 of the European Parliament and Council, EN 1709-2004 will be withdrawn on April 30, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> For
